It was a long journey for me to get to this point of having maternity photos done. For those of you who have followed me for a while know that I had a really bad miscarriage a little over a year ago, before these photos were taken. I managed to get pregnant but the baby stopped developing really early in the process causing what is called a blighted ovum. It’s basically where there is a sack and your body still recognizes as being pregnant but there is no fetus growing. It was heartbreaking. Like depths of despair heartbreaking! The events that followed that horrible news at the dr office just got worse from there. It took over a month after that for my body to recognize I really wasn’t pregnant and once it did, the floodgates opened. I hemorrhaged and had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital because I had lost consciousness and my vitals were in the tank. I had an amazing healthcare team that took really good care of me and all was well after, at least as well as one could be after going through something like that. I got pregnant later on that year with our sweet rainbow baby, Logan. He has been such a major joy to me and it’s like our family needed him here all along, he just filled a void we didn’t know we had. Since it was such a rough process to get to the point of my maternity photos, I wanted to fulfill a bucket list item of going to the sand dunes to really make it meaningful, we also happened to be going on Star Wars day which was perfect for me because I love Star Wars! Here is a compilation of some photos we took at the Little Sahara Sand Dunes in Utah and then some newborn photos that were taken in a local studio that I adore. I luckily have an amazing sister who was willing to help me out with the camera work in taking these photos, in exchange, I also took some photos of her so I will tack those on here as well cause she is just gorgeous!

The image below was the crowning jewel to the whole session. A rainbow baby is a baby that is born after a pregnancy loss and we just so happened to get a beautiful rainbow show up at my maternity session, it was incredible!

Look how pretty she is!! The best part, is she is just as beautiful on the inside!
